Updated: Jan 21, 2022

Koh Phayam is a small island off the west coast of Thailand, near the border with Myanmar. The island is 10 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide with long beaches. There are no cars here, no stabile wifi, no Seven Eleven-s, no big parties. This island is favoured by artists, hippies and long-stayers.

On the island you can find very simple and cheap bungalow accommodation for backpackers and just only few hotels. These hotels are also small, environmentally friendly accommodation, where you can walk around barefoot. Rooms have TVs and Wi-Fi is available, although wifi signal sometimes is very weak.

You can find lot of simple bungalows on Agoda just for 16 EUR/night (for a couple)

Starlight Beach Resort for just 24 EUR/night (for a couple):

Goldkey Bungallow for just 15 EUR / night (for a couple):

Little Hut for just 18 EUR for a night (for a couple):

There are no car traffic here, just motorcycles. You can reach any point of the island with motorcycle, within an hour. You don't have to worry about public safety, because there are no safety problems here.

Those who looking for nightlife, Koh Phayam is not ideal choice. Koh Phayam is a very simple, undeveloped island. This place is suitable for those who would like to disappear from the civilization for a while and want to enjoy the total tranquility. More and more Western European middle-class families are coming here, so it’s not just young people in their twenties. There is a rainy season on the island from early May to November. In fact, it is only during this dry season that it is worth visiting the island.
