Motovun, the medieval hilltop town
Motovun, a very spectacular hilltop town in Istria. You can reach it from several nearby popular coastal towns, Opatija and Rovinj is 50 km away and Porec just 25 km. The town, built at 277 metres above sea level in Gothic and Romanesque architecture, is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Croatia. From nearby towns a half day visit can be a good summer program, or you can spend a few days here in summer or autumn with reading while enjoying the views of the vineyards or walking in the surrounding forests.
