Bale is situated on a hilltop, close to Rovinj, Vodnjan and Svetvincenat. The town has preserved its original beauty and wealth, avoiding any destruction.

The history of Bale dates back to the Middle Ages, as can be seen from the stone houses in Bale, built around the 14th and 15th centuries, which form the spectacular streetscape of Bale. The town is also home of the Soardo-Bembo castle and the church of St Julian, which has a secret crypt. The old town is a protected area for the historical and architectural values.

Bale is not only a place of historical interest, but also offers plenty of opportunities for active recreation. Not far from the town, a few kilometres away, you will find stunning beaches with crystal clear waters where you can swim or admire the marine life. You can also hire a bicycle to explore the green forests.


In Bale you can try the Istrian cuisine. There are several restaurants here and the surrounding area where you can try traditional Istrian dishes, local ham, truffles, freshly caught and prepared fish and seafood.
